ABOUT THE CITY
CITY HISTORY
Williamsburg derives its name from Past Department Commander (2011-2012) Fletcher Williams. A graduate of North Johnston High School in Kenly, NC in 1968, Fletcher enlisted in the Air Force. He underwent training at Keesler AFB, MS, specializing in Administration and Postal and Courier Services. Commencing his civilian career in Germany in 1989, where he met his wife while working for 5th Signal Command, he eventually retired after two decades of government service, during which he oversaw contracts at Tyndall AFB, FL. Actively engaged in various service organizations, Fletcher chairs the Crestview Veteran Affairs Committee and is a member of Mt Zion A.M.E. Church, where he contributes to the male chorus. However, his true passions lie with his family, the American Legion, and Boys State.
